Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: [UK c.a.: Rinse with water]

Emergency measure - Skin: [UK c.a.: Wash with soap and water]

Emergency measure - Ingestion: [UK c.a.: Seek medical attention]

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and sulphur

oxides together with soot and possibly hydrogen cyanide. A

self-contained breathing apparatus should be used. Suitable

extinguishing media are water, carbon dioxide, foam and dry

powder.

Accidental release measures

Handling and storage

Handling: The usual precautions for the handling of chemicals should

be observed. [UK c.a.: avoid dust formation, if necessary

use respiratory protection.]

Storage: No special precautions, store in closed containers in

adequate rooms.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recyling is not practicable as over 95% of the

substance is consumed in use and it is highly water soluble.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable on the basis of the tests performed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a landfill site is possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration is possible but the facility should

be equipped to remove acidic gases (NOx, SOx) and hydrogen

cyanide gas as it may be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: It is estimated that far less than 5% of the total quantity

used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as a

highly diluted solution. Dyehouses and paper-mills are well

aware of this waste water and remedy it by installing

prepurification plants. Part of it will be discharged into

industrial effluent. It can be assumed that the dyestuff

will be completely biodegraded under aerobic conditions (see

5.2.1.1).

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from articles is not possible

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dyed articles may be destroyed in the appropriate manner

normally used for their disposal.
