Description of key information

The acute toxicity towards Pseudokircheriella Subcapitata was investigated in accordance with OECD TG 201 and GLP.  Algae were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0.213, 0.470, 1.03, 2.27 and 5 mg/l and observed for 72 hours in closed conditions. Due to a decrease in measured levels of the substance in the test (attributed to low aqueous solubility), the overall measured concentrations were 0.132, 0.282, 0.650, 0.841 and 2.93 mg/l, based on a geometric mean. An ErC50 value of 3.60 mg/l (95% confidence limits, 3.38 - 7.40 mg/l) was calculated by extrapolation of the logistic curve. The ErC10 was >2.93 mg/l (7% inhibition).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
2.93 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
2.93 mg/L
