Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: None

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Normal extinguishing agents adequate (water, foam etc).
Possibility of HCl, NO2 and SO2 evolution.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: If dry, remove and dump; for liquid spillages, wash away
with much water (in accordance with local/national
regulations in both cases).

Handling and storage

Handling: Minimise exposure by use of standard occupational hygiene
procedures and good housekeeping.Protective clothing
(including impervious overalls, headcovering, suitable
footwear and gloves) should be used. Weighing to be in an
enclosed ventilated area and transfer by partially enclosed
scoops.

Storage: All containers should be in good condition in a well
ventilated, easily cleaned store. Lids to be kept in place

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not practical

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: (for dry residues) in a suitable plant or disposal at a
specially permitted landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: 34-40% of the dyestuff is lost to the factorys internal
effluent system following the dyeing operation. This is
common for such dyestuffs and is countered by the use of
(undefined) effluent clean-up plant, but some still
escapes. Of this, some, but not all, will be degraded
aerobically, but there is evidence that much of it will be
destroyed anaerobically (Anaerobic degradation of
commercial bis-azo-dyes: Brown and Laboureur, Chemosphere
1983, 12(3), pp397-404; ETAD E 3013: sediment analysis of
the Rhine showing absence of dyes- Status Report 27/6/80).

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from dyed articles is not feasable

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dyed articles can be disposed of as domestic waste
