First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water.Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water.Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire, normal extinguishing media may be used(e.g. water, carbon dioxide, foam, dry powder).Product arising from burning: The substance itself does not present a fire hazard. Ifinvolved in a fire, nitric oxides, carbon oxides andchlorine compounds may be produced.Product determined by test: NProtective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should then be used.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Remove in dry state and dump in a controlled deposit orincinerate.Wash liquid spillage with large amounts of water. For large quantities absorb with adequate adsorbent and dumpin a controlled deposit of incinerate.

Handling and storage

Handling: The usual precautions should be observed. Avoid skin contactand dust formation when handling the product. Cuts andabrasions should be covered with impermeable material.Storage: No particular recommendations.Normally, stored in closed containers in adequate rooms.Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Not given, 6th amendment notification.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of over 95% byirreversible binding to leather or paper. Recovery forrecycling of the remaining highly water soluble substance isnot practicable.Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal in a controlled deposit is possible. (A650)Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration in a suitable plant is possible.(A661)Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended. Much less than 5% of the total quantityused is discharged into internal industrial effluents as ahighly diluted solution. Industry is well aware of thiswaste and should treat it by installing pre-purificationplants. Part of it will be discharged into industrialeffluents. Total aerobic degradation is unlikely, althoughpartial degradation may occur. The literature suggests thatit may be destroyed by anaerobic degradation (seebibliography).Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from articles dyed with the substance is notpossible.Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will not enter the public domain. Articlesdyed with the substance may be disposed of as domesticwaste.
