A study was conducted to determine the effects of the substance on earthworm reproduction (Eisenia andrei) according to OECD Guideline 222 in compliance with GLP. The study was performed using eight concentrations ranging from 1 to 1,000 mg/kg soil dry weight. In each replicate, 10 adult animals were exposed to the test item for 28 days in an artificial soil. After 28 days, the living adult animals were counted, and 28 days later, the number of juveniles produced was determined. Six concentrations showed statistically significant inhibition of reproduction ranging from 20 to 93% compared to the control. Adult mortality only occurred in the highest treatment and in the blank control. It was equivalent to 2.5% for each of these groups after the first 28 days. The 56d EC50 of the reference substance Benomyl (tested in a current reference test) was 1.9 mg/kg dry soil, lying within the required range of the guideline. The study validity criteria were fulfilled. The following results were determined for the test substance: 56 d NOEC (reproduction) = 3 mg/kg soil dw, 56d EC10 (reproduction) = 11 mg/kg soil dw, 56d EC50(mortality) = 115 mg/kg soil dw.

A study was conducted to determine the effects of the substance on nitrogen transformation in soil according to OECD Guideline 216 and EU Method C21 in compliance with GLP. The study was performed using the following five concentrations: 1,000, 1,800, 3,200, 5,600 and 10,000 mg/kg soil dry weight. Sieved soil was exposed to the test item for 28 days. After 0 and 28 days, the nitrate content of the soil of each treatment was determined. A blank control was tested in parallel. The four highest concentrations showed significant inhibition of nitrate production compared to the control. However, no appropriate determination of the EC50 was possible due to missing linearity of the dose response. Therefore, the NOEC was stated as 1,000 mg/kg soil dry weight
