Description of key information

The 96h LC50 for fish was determined to be > 5,000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Acute toxicity of Allantoin to fish was tested in an experimental GLP-compliant study, that was conducted according to OECD guideline 203 and EU method C1. Zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio) were exposed to Allantoin in a 96h static freshwater test at a nominal Allantoin concentration of c = 5,000 mg/L. After 2h, 24h, 48h, 72h and 96h no lethal effects were observed in any of the test organisms. Therefore it can be concluded that the LC50 of Allantoin to fish is > 5,000 mg/L.
