Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The simulation test on ultimate degradation in surface water and sediment simulation test study required in REACH guidance, Annex IX (Sections 9.2.1.2 and 9.2.1.4) do not need to be conducted as the substance is readily biodegradable. The chemical safety assessment also indicates that the identification of degradation products (required in section 9.2.3) is not necessary.

However, in a reliable simulation in water and sediment test conducted in accordance to OECD 303A, a value of 93 ± 5 % has been determined for Citric acid. The observed removal could be due to adsorption and/or degradation. The read across from citric acid to trizinc dicitrate is justified on the basis that the effect of trizinc dicitrate is not expected to significantly differ from the effects of the citrate anion and the metal ion in solution.
