Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis of tert-dodecanethiol was studied with OECD TG 111. Disappearance of test item was observed but cannot be attributed to hydrolysis. Most likely it was due to fugacity from the oversaturated solution by adsorption of volatilisation.

Additional information

Hydrolysis of tert-dodecanethiol was studied at pH 4, 7 and 9, using the OECD TG 111. A significant reduction of substance concentration was observed at all pH. As the structure of the molecule does not account for a hydrolytical reaction, it is likely that the measured decay of solution concentrations is due to other phenomena such as adsorption or volatilisation, evenmore as the tested concentrations were significantly above the water solubility limit.
