Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

inherently biodegradable

Additional information

Oleyl tripropylene tetramine (C18tripropylene tetramine, composition of the Oleyl-alkyl chain is specified by Karleskind (1996)) is an alkyl polypropylene polyamine. Due to toxicity to microorganisms one valid ready biodegradability test result for alkyl polypropylene polyamines is available. Nevertheless all aspects important to show non persistence of Oleyl tripropylene tetramine (C18tripropylene tetramine) are available i.e. 1) ultimate (complete) biodegradation (demonstrated in (S)CAS tests and through read across) 2) high rates of degradation (through read across with Coco dipropylenetriamine (C18tripropylene tetramine)) and 3) occurrence of competent microorganisms in unacclimated ecosystems (through read across with Coco dipropylenetriamine (C18tripropylene tetramine) are fulfilled. Oleyl tripropylene tetramine (C18tripropylene tetramine is therefore at present viewed as not persistent.
