Description of key information

N-methylol methacrylamide showed no toxicity to bacteria in an activated sludge inhibition of oxygen consumption test as well as in a bacteria growth inhibition test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

Low toxicity of N-methylol methacryamide to microorganisms was demonstrated in a test for inhibition of oxygen consumption by activated sludge according to ISO 8192. The 30 minutes EC10 value was determined to > 1000 mg/l for a 15 % aqueous solution.

In a Bacteria growth inhibition test according to Bringmann-Kuehn (DIN 38412 part 8), N-methylol methacrylamide (15 % aqueous solution) was not toxic up to concentrations of 2000 mg/l.
