Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from exposure and keep person at rest. Seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected areas with water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water and give water to drink. Do not
induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry-powder or carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes such as carbon, nitrogen and
sulfur oxides.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of a large spillage wear an air suit, rubber
gloves and rubber boots and carefully collect up the solid
and transfer to a sealed container. Wipe up any residual
powder with a damp cloth and place in a container for
disposal.

In the event of a small spillage wear laboratory coat, eye
protection, rubber gloves and, if the spillage occurs
outside a fume cupboard, a dust respirator to FFP2S
protection. Collect the solid carefully and transfer to a
sealed container. Wipe up any residual solid with a damp
cloth and place in a container for disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling: A handling plan will be developed in conjunction with the
EHS department ahead of the production campaign, which will
detail PPE to be worn when handling materials in all phases
of the production process including how spillages should be
dealt with. This plan will be forwarded to the Competent
Authority as soon as it is prepared.

Storage: The location should be cool, dry and well ventilated.

The substance should be stored in the original container
that should be correctly labelled and kept tightly closed
when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25kg of the substance will be stored in Fibreboard drums
with double polyethylene bag lining.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Explosion severity (20 litre sphere):

Maximum explosion pressure = 8.0 bar g

Kst value = 229 bar.m/s

St class = 2

Minimum Ignition Energy < 5 mJ

Minimum (dust cloud) Ignition Temperature = 600°C

Limiting Oxygen Concentration = 11% by volume

Dust explosion determined by test: Y

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not

economically or technically feasible, and such waste will be

disposed of by incineration. In principle it may be possible

to recover larger spillages of uncontaminated material for
subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the
hazardous health properties.

The dust explosion hazard will be minimsed by appropriate
handling and storage techniques.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance should not be dipsosed of by landfill.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance may be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed because noxious fumes (eg. carbon,
nitrogen and sulfur oxides) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not be discharged directly to the
sewage system or aqueous environment. However, adverse
effects on sewage treatment systems would be unlikely.
(A640).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is not available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance is not available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance is not available to the public.
