Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No measured data are available for the biodegradation for any of the streams within this Category. As streams within this Category are a gas at standard temperature and pressure and are expected to partition primarily to air.

Use of QSAR estimates predicts that streams within this Category will degrade rapidly in the environment, Isobutene and Butane were all shown to be readily biodegradable. Isobutane was deemed not readily biodegradable due to having a Biowin5 (MITI Linear model) of 0.4898 and Biowin 7 (anaerobic linear) of 0.4315. However Biowin 2 (non-linear model), Biowin 3 (ultimate biodegradation time) and Biowin 6 (MITI non-linear model) were all above the readily biodegradable threshold for the PBT Assessment. Therefore it is considered that this Category is readily biodegradable.
