Additional information

One study is available for 2-methyl-1,8-octanediamine (MODA) which shows that the substance is not biodegradable. This is not in line with similar diamines which are generally reported to be readily biodegradable (e.g. hexamethylene diamine, CAS 124-09-4, nonamethylene diamine, CAS 646 -24 -2) and attributed to the non-linear carbon chain and hindrance by the alpha methyl group of the molecule. Due to the strictly controlled conditions of use and the limited exposure to the environment no further studies were considered necessary.
