Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point was determined in a study to search for the existence of different polymorphs of androstanolone.
General Physical Chemistry, Schering AG Berlin. Study report No. A04563 (ADP 2001_115), dated 2001-12-06.
Result: 181°C (454 K), polymorph I

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
454 K

Additional information

Androstanolone is a solid under ambient conditions. There were 3 polymorphs found (I, II and III).

Polymorph I melts at 181.0°C (454.2 K) ± 0.4 K, determined by DSC measurements using a Perkin Elmer DSC 7 at a heating rate of 5 K/min in aluminium pans with holes under nitrogen atmosphere.

The melting point of polymorphs II and III could not be determined, because they are transformed to polymorph I below 140°C.
