The 3-hour EC50 of t-butylperoxyisobutyratewas determined to be 207 mg/L for activated sludge.

The acute toxicity of t-butylperoxyisobutyrate on micro-organismus present in activated sludge was evaluated using a 3 -hour static test according to OECD guideline no. 209. Inhibitions of the respiration rate at 10, 31.6, 100, 316 and 1000 mg/L of t-butyl peroxyisobutyrate were 2%, 18%, 43%, 63% and 72%, respectively, relative to mean of the controls. Hence, a significant inhibition of the respiration rate (> 15% relative to mean of the controls) was noted from 31.6 mg/L of t-butyl peroyisobutyrate. The 3-hour EC50 of the test substance was determined to be 207 mg/L.
