Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hexacos-1-ene is not considered to be readily biodegradable on the basis of read across to data available for substances with a carbon number range covering the C26 alpha olefins.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A biodegradation screening study is not available for hexacos-1 -ene. In the absence of data we have evaluated the data available for other alpha olefins with a carbon number range that includes hexacos-1 -ene and used this for read across.

Commander and Good (2010) conducted an OECD 301F ready biodegradability test with C26 -28 alpha olefins. After 28 days 48% biodegradation was observed. The test material was therefore found to be not readily biodegradable.

Therefore, on the basis of read across hexacos-1 -ene is not considered readily biodegradable
