First-aid measures

Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately unless stuck to skin. Drench the affected skin with running water for 10 minutes or longer if substance is still on skin. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop.

There may be mild irritation at the site of contact.

Eye contact: Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Consult a doctor.

There may be irritation and redness.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Wash out mouth with water. If conscious, give half a litre of water to drink immediately. Consult a doctor.

Headaches or general malaise may result.

Inhalation: Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst doing so. If conscious, ensure the casualty sits or lies down. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop.

There may be irritation of the throat with a feeling of tightness in the chest.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Water spray. Water fog. Alcohol resistant foam. Dry chemical powder. Carbon dioxide. Suitable extinguishing media for the surrounding fire should be used.

Exposure hazards: Harmful. In combustion emits toxic fumes of carbon dioxide/carbon monoxide. In combustion emits toxic fumes of sulphur oxides. In conbustion emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. In conbustion emits toxic fumes of hydrogen fluoride.

Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Werar protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective clothing. Mark out the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorised personnel. Do not create dust.

Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into drains or rivers.

Clean-up procedures: Transfer to a closable, labeled salvage container for disposal by an appropriate method. Wash the spillage site with large amounts of water. Retain washings as contaminated waste.

Handling and storage

Risk Management Measures: This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH Regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates, Article 18(4) for transported intermediates and ECHA Guidance on Intermediates, version 2-December 2010 (Reference: ECHA-2010-G-17-EN). The substance is synthesised only in one site in the EU and is then exported outside EU. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at the manufacturing site.

Handling requirements: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Avoid the formation or spread of dust in the air.

Storage conditions: Store in cool, well ventilated area.

Engineering measures: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. In the laboratory, handle in a chemical fume hood.

Respiratory protection: Not normally needed, but use compressed air supplied breathing apparatus where the potential to generate dust is high.

Hand protection: Wear protective gloves.

Eye protection: Wear sfaety glasses with side-shields. Safety goggles. Ensure eye bath is to hand.

Skin protection: Wear protective clothing. Ensure safety shower is to hand.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid: Flames.

Materials to avoid: Acids. Oxidising agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: In combustion emits toxic fumes of carbon dioxide/carbon monoxide. In combustion emits toxic fumes of sulphur oxides. In conbustion emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. In conbustion emits toxic fumes of hydrogen fluoride.

Disposal considerations

Disposal operations: Incineration on land.

Disposal of packaging: Empty containers are still hazardous and should be decontaminated and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
