Additional information

Three fish acute toxicity studies are available. Two studies with rainbow trout and zebrafish presented similar results, with the 96-h LC50-values being 210 and 218 mg/L, respectively. A third study was conducted in which 96-h LC50-values of 52 and 68 mg/L were determined in rainbow trout and blue gill, respectively. This study is however considered unreliable for several reasons. First, acetone has been used as solvent. However, precipitation was observed, yet unexplained, during test water preparations. Second, the water was not aerated during testing and throughout the 96-hour exposure period the concentrations of dissolved oxygen dropped significantly to below present day validity standards (percentages of theoretical saturation at test temperature were 52 and 23 in rainbow trout and blue gill tests, respectively). Therefore, the 96-h LC50-value of 210 mg/L from the other rainbow trout test is considered for assessment.
