First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures: Remove victim out of the danger area. When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice.

- After inhalation: Provide fresh air.

- Following skin contact: Subsequently wash off with water.

- After eye contact: Rinse immediately carefully and thoroughly with eye-bath or water.

- After ingestion: Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Skin irritation and impairment of vision.

Indication of any immediate medical attention: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

- Suitable extinguishing media: Dry extinguishing powder, foam and Carbon dioxide (CO2).

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: Strong water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

- Hazardous combustion products: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and Sulphur oxides (SOx).

Advice for firefighters

- Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

- Additional information: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow to enter drains or surface water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

- For non-emergency personnel: Avoid generation of dust.

- For emergency responders: Please refer to section "Exposure controls/personal protection"

- Personal protection equipment: Please refer to section "Exposure controls/personal protection"

Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Retain contaminated washing water and dispose it. Ensure waste is collected and contained. In case of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

- For containment: No special measures are necessary.

- For cleaning up: Take up mechanically, placing in appropriate containers for disposal. Wash with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Protective measures:

- Avoid: Inhalation of dust/particles.

- Personal protection equipment: Please refer to section "Exposure control/personal protection"

- Fire prevention measures: Dust explosive, Dust explosion category: ST 1. Avoid generation of dust. Avoid accumulating electrostatic charge. Dust must be exhausted directly at the point of origin.

- Advices on general occupational hygiene: When using do not eat, drink, smoke, sniff. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Used working clothes should not be worn outside the work area.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

- Suitable container/equipment material: Glass and Polyethylene (PE).

- Unsuitable container/equipment material: Iron and Aluminium.

- Suitable floor material: The floor should be leak tight, jointless and not absorbent.

- Fire prevention measures: No special fire protection measures are necessary.

Hints on joint storage

- Do not store together with light metals or strong oxidising agents.

Further information on storage conditions:

- Recommended storage temperature: At room temperature.

- Protect against: Humidity. Keep the packing dry and well sealed to prevent contamination and absorbtion of humidity.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

- Occupational exposure limit values: Iron complex of EDDHAS, potassium salt [Source: INRS (FR) VME - mg/m3: 10 - Duration: 8 h - Behaviour: Indicative]

Exposure controls

- Appropriate engineering controls: Please refer to the section "Handling and storage". No additional measures necessary.

Personal protective equipment:

- Eye/face protection: Dust protection eye glasses (DIN 166).

- Skin protection: Chemical resistant protective gloves (DIN EN 374).

Suitable material: Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber) By long-term hand contact

Suitable material: NBR (nitrile rubber) By long-term hand contact

Suitable material: PVC (polyvinyl chloride) By long-term hand contact

- Body protection: Wearing of fully sealed work clothing is recommended. Chemical protection clothing. Chemical resistant safety shoes.

- Respiratory protection: Usually no respiratory personal protective equipment is required. Respiratory protection necessary at exposure limit overshoot or insufficient exhaust and by handling larger quantities.

Suitable respiratory protection apparatus: Half-face mask (DIN EN 149) with filter type (DIN EN 143): P1/P2/P3.
