Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

To determine the toxicity of 2,2 -dimethyloxiran to aquatic invertebrates, a GLP study according to EU method C.2 using Daphnia magna was performed. The calculated EC50 (48h) value in this study was 64.8 mg/L, related to the analytically verified nominal concentrations (BASF SE 1999). The toxicity of the analogous substance 1,2 -epoxybutane on Daphnia magna was tested in an acute toxicity test (BASF 1988). The EC50 (48h) determined to be 70 mg/L.

As the results lie in the same range, a read-across on other aquatic endpoints (acute toxicity to fish an algae) is regarded as valid.
