Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is not readily biodegradable, based on 22 to 23 % degradation in 28d (OECD 301 D)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The ready biodegradability study was selected as the key study (Thermophos, 2006). This is a standard study with some acceptable deviations: preadapted inoculum was used and inorganic phosphate was left out of the nutrient medium. In addition, solutions of test substance stock solution were made in natural seawater. The study is however considered to be a reliable study to demonstrate that the substance is not readily biodegradable.

A reliability 2 ready biodegradability test study is also available (Rhodia 1984), indicating a biodegradation of 0% in 28 days.

A reliable inherent biodegradation test study (Rhodia 1999) indicated a biodegradation rate of 0% in 28 days.

A reliable anaerobic biodegradability study (Rhodia, 1995) indicated a biodegradation rate of 6 -8% in 56d.
