Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

During the preliminary test the Acid Yellow RN 2903/cellulose mixture only burned for about
2-3 seconds, glowed under the ignition source and colored black. Underneath the black surface the unaltered test item/cellulose mixture remained. The barium nitrate/cellulose mixture during the same test burned for 66 seconds with a sizzling flame.

In order to confirm the results from the preliminary test, a main test was performed. For all prepared Acid Yellow RN 2903/cellulose mixtures only surface burning or no burning was observed and therefore no burning rates could be calculated. Therefore the test was stopped according to the guideline. In comparison: the fastest barium nitrate/cellulose mixture contained 50% barium nitrate.

Details of the individual measurements are given in Table 1 and Table 2.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

The determination of the oxidizing properties of Acid Yellow RN 2903 was performed in

accordance with the EEC Directive 92/69, EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992 and

Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical

properties, A.17 “Oxidizing Properties (solids)”.

During the preliminary test the Acid Yellow RN 2903/cellulose mixture only burned for about

2-3 seconds, glowed under the ignition source and colored black. Underneath the black surface

the unaltered test item/cellulose mixture remained. The barium nitrate/cellulose mixture during

the same test burned for 66 seconds with a sizzling flame.

In order to confirm the results from the preliminary test, a main test was performed. For all

prepared Acid Yellow RN 2903/cellulose mixtures only surface burning or no burning was

observed and therefore no burning rates could be calculated. Therefore the test was stopped

according to the guideline. In comparison: the fastest barium nitrate/cellulose mixture contained

50% barium nitrate. Details of the individual measurements are given in Table 1andTable 2 (see above).

In conclusion, Acid Yellow RN 2903 has no oxidizing properties.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: no oxidising properties
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
Acid Yellow RN 2903 is considered to have no oxidizing properties.
Executive summary:

Acid Yellow RN 2903 is considered to have no oxidizing properties because all test item/cellulose mixtures only showed surface burning or no burning. Therefore no burning rates were calculated.
