Additional information

The substance Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., ethyl esters (CAS 85049-36-1) is not expected to be present in the atmosphere or accumulate in natural waters. This assumption is based on the low vapour pressure and the low water solubility. However, if released to air a rapid photodegradation by reaction with hydroxyl radicals is expected, whereas abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is negligible according to the estimated half-lives of the main substance components. Under environmental conditions the substance is expected to be mainly eliminated by biodegradation. Thus, abiotic degradation by indirect photodegradation or hydrolysis is not relevant for the substance.
