Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The test are performed on the commercial forms of the test item. Indeed, the solvent (water) of the aqueous solution test item can't be separated by drying without change its composition (specially in metacrylic acid).
According to REACH regulation (Ec No 1907/2006 of THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 18 Dcember 2006) Title 1 chapter 2 article 3, a substance is definie as following:
substance means a chemical element and its compounds in the natural state or obtained by any manufacturing process, including any additive necessary to preserve its stability and any impurity deriving from the process used, but excluding any solvent which may be separated without affecting the stability of the subtance or changing its composition.
According to this definition, the aqueous solution of the test item can be considered as a substance.
In the following table, the physico-chemical properties of the substance are summarized:
Endpoint | Experimental result |
Frezzing point | <20°C |
Boiling point | 101,9°C ar 101 325 Pa |
Relative density | 1,1086 at 20°C |
Particule size distribution | Waiving according to column 2 of REACH Annex VII |
Vapour pressure | 2320 Pa at 20°C |
3055 Pa at 25°C | |
Partition coefficient | 0,79 at 25°C |
Water solubility | Waiving because of the physical form of the test item |
Surface tension | 63,04 at 20°C |
Flash point | No flash point measured as the test item boils at 103,8°C |
Auto Flammability | Waiving according to Column 2 of Annex VII Section 7.12 of the REACH regulation |
Flammability | Waiving according to REACH Annex XI |
Explosiveness | Waiving according to column 2 of REACH Annex VII |
Oxidising properties | Waiving according to column 2 of REACH Annex VII |
Stability in organic solvents | Waiving according to column 2 of REACH annex IX |
Dissociation constant | Estimated pKa (by QSAR calculation) at 25°C of N-[2-(2-oxoimidazolidin-1-yl)ethyl]methacrylamide : 12.03 |
Experimental pKa of methacrylic acid : 4.65 | |
Viscosity | 24.1476 ± 0.0201 mPa *s at 19.98 ± 0.1 °C |
9.6354 ± 0.0058mPa *s at 40.0 ± 0.1 °C |
