PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

In an OECD 301C study no biodegradation of o-TSA could be observed after 14 days. o/p-TSA, a mixture of p-TSA (readily) and o-TSA was tested in a SCAS test and found to be inherently biodegradable. The substance is considered to fulfill the criteria for vP and P.

The measured Log Kow is 0.6 and furthermore in an OECD 305 study a BCF < 2.6 at 0.3 mg/L test concentration was found. As this is less then 2000 mg/L, the substance is not considered to have a potential to bioaccumulate.

The lowest long-term NOEC for aquatic toxicity is for for algae with 7.7 mg/L; Substance is of limited toxicity and no classification for any health hazard is required. Therefore not T.
