Ortho-toluenesulfonamide(OTSA) has no dangerous properties requiring classification.

Ortho-toluenesulfonamide(OTSA) is an almost odourless white to creamy organic crystalline solid.

Ortho-toluenesulfonamide has a melting point of 155.5°C.

Boiling point: Ortho-toluenesulfonamide decomposes above 188°C.

The relative density is 1.432.

Granulometry: Light microscopic examination revealed that the shape of the product is non-fibrous. By sieving 9.1 %m/m is < 100 µm. The characteristics of the PSD of the fraction < 100 µm are: d10: 16µm, d50: 51µm and d90: 107µm.

Ortho-toluenesulfonamide has a vapour pressure of 0.000066 Pa at a temperature of 25°C.

The measured partition coefficient log Kow value for ortho-toluenesulfonamide is 0.6.

The watersolubility of ortho toluene sulphonamide is 1.6 g/l at 25°C.

No surface tension is expected.

o-Toluenesulfonamide is non flammable, non exposive and is not considered as an oxidizing substance.

According to the criteria in the UN Standard aqueous OTSA should be classified as non-corrosive.

Ortho-Toluenesulfonamide shall not be considered for classification as self-reactive substance according to EC Regulation No 1271/2008 (CLP).
