Additional information

PNEC values for the aquatic compartment have been derived using a combination of short-term toxicity data for the test substance and long-term data for structurally related substances (see IUCLID section 13 for read-across document).

For sediment and soil, no PNECs can be derived as not sufficient data is available. Based on the properties no adsorption of EDTA-FeHNa onto the sediment and soil has to be expected, thus the assessment of this compartment will be covered by the aquatic assessment and can be based on the pore water concentration only.

Conclusion on classification

By analogy with EDTA-FeNa (CAS 15708-41-5), EDTA-FeHNa is considered as not readily biodegradable. Based on its calculated log Kow (-10.6), it is not potentially bioaccumulable according to both criteria of DSD (Log Kow ≥ 3) and CLP (Log Kow ≥ 4). Short-term and chronic tests performed on the three trophic levels (i.e. fish, daphnids, algae) on the analogue EDTA-FeNa (CAS 15708-41-5) or other EDTA-complex indicate the substance EDTA-FeHNa is not considered as harmful to the aquatic environment after acute or prolonged exposure. As a result, EDTA-FeHNa is not classified regarding its environmental impacts, neither under the criteria of CLP, nor under those of DSD.
