Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

The study does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties in the molecule (reference 4.14-1).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the explosiveness study does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties in the molecule.

Additionally, a test on explosive properties according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.14 was performed to determined the explosive properties of the test item. A preliminary determination of the heat of decomposition of the test item was determined with the DSC method. The impact sensitivity of the test item was determinedin the BAM Fallhammer test with 40 J impact energy. In six independent measurements no explosion occured. The behaviour of the test under confinement was tested in a steel tube with an orifice with diameter of 2.0 mm. Three independent measurements were performed and as overall result no explosion was observed. Therefore, it is considered that the test item has no potential for explosive properties (reference 4.14-2).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) 2020/1182, the test item does not have to be classified with respect to explosiveness.
