Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation:

Remove to fresh air. Do not attempt to rescue the victim unless proper respiratory protection is worn. If the victim has difficulty breathing or tightness of the chest, is dizzy, vomiting, or unrespnsive, give 100% oxygen with rescue breathing or CPR as required and transport to the nearest medical facility.

Skin contact:

If contact with hot product, cool the burn area or apply burn creams or ointments. Cover the burn area loosely with sterile dressing, if available. Transport to the nearest medical facility for additional treatment.

Eye contact:

If contact with hot product, cool the burn area by flushing with large amounts of water. Do not attempt to remove anything from the burn area or apply burn creams or ointments. Cover the burn area loosely with sterile dressing, if available. Transport to the nearest medical facility for additional treatment.

Ingestion:

If swallowed, do not induce vomiting: transport to nearest medical facility for additional treatment. If vomiting occurs spontaneously, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration.

Advice to Physician:

Call a doctor or poison control centre for guidance.

Fire-fighting measures

Clear fire area of all non-emergency personnel.

Specific hazards:

Carbon monoxide may evolve if incomplete combustion occurs.

Hazardous combustion products may include: Oxides of phosphorous. Toxic products.

Extinguishing Media:

Foam, water spray of fog. Dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, sand or earth may be used for small fires only.

Unsuitable Extinguishing Media:

Do not use water in a jet.

Protective Equipment for Firefighters:

Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Additional Advice:

Keep adjacent containers cool by spraying with water.

Accidental release measures

Observe all relevant local and international regulations.

Personal precautions and emergency procedures:

Avoid contact with spilled material. Immediately remove all contaminated clothing. Use the following as appropriate: Notify authorities if any exposure to the general public or the environment occurs or is likely to occur. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Keep animals off contaminated vegetation. Stay upwind and keep out of low areas. Be ready for fire or possible exposure.

For guidance on personal protective equipment see "Exposure controls/Personal protection" section below.

Environmental precautions:

Prevent from spreading or entering into drains, ditches oor rivers by using sand, earth or appropraite barriers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination. Ventilate contaminated area thoroughly.

Clean Up Methods:

For solids, shovel into a suitable clearly marked container for disposal or reclamation in accordance with local regulations.

If molten allow to congeal.

Handling and storage

General precautions:

Avoid breathing vapours or contact with material. Only use in well ventilated areas. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Handling:

Avoid inhaling vapours and/or mists. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Do not empty into drains.

Storage:

Vapours from tanks should not be released to atmosphere. Breathing losses during storage should be controlled by a suitable vapour treatment system. If molten keep in a bunded area.

Storage Temperture: Ambient.

Product transfer:

Keep containers closed when not in use. Do not use compressed air for filling, discharging or handling.

Container Advice:

Containers, ever those that have been emptied, can contain explosive vapours. Do not cut, drill, grind, weld, or perform similar operations on or near containers.

Additional Information:

Ensure that all local regulations regarding handling and storage facilities are followed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment:

Personal protective equipment (PPE) should meet recommended national standards. Check with PPE suppliers.

Eye protection:

Chemical splash goggles (gas-tight monogoggles) and face shield with chin guard.

Approved to EU Standards EN166.

Hand protection

Where hand contact with the product may occur the use of gloves approved to relevant standards (e.g. Europe: EN374) made from the following materials may provide suitable protection:

Incidental contact/Splash protection: PVC, neoprene or nitrile rubber gloves.

Suitability and durability of a glove is dependent on usage, e.g. frequency and duration of contact, chemical resistance of glove material, glove thickness, dexterity. Always seek advice from glove suppliers. Contaminated gloves should be replaced. Personal hygiene is a key element of effective hand care. Gloves must only be worn on clean hands. After using gloves, hands should be washed and dried thoroughly. Application of a non-perfumed moisturizer is recommended.

Body protection:

Where risk of splashing or in spillage clean up, use chemical resistant one-piece overall with integral hood and chemical resistant gloves. Otherwise use chemical resistance apron and gauntlets. For spillage clean up use chemical resistant knee length boots.

Respiratory protection:

Select a filter suitable for combined particulate/organic gases and vapours meeting EN14387.

If engineering controls do not maintain airborne concentrations to a level which is adequate to protect worker health, select respiratory protection equipment suitable for specific conditions of use and meeting relevant legislation. Check with respiratory protective equipment suppliers. Where air-filtering respirators are unsuitable (e.g., airborne concentrations are high, risk of oxygen deficiency, confined space) use appropriate positive pressure breathing apparatus.

Environmental exposure controls:

Where material is heated, sprayed or mist formed, there is greater potential for airborne concentrations to be generated.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Stable under normal conditions of handling and use.

Stability: Stable under normal conditions of handling and use. Oxidises on contact with air. Not pyrophoric.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Avoid contact with strong Lewis or mineral acids. Should be reacted with halogens only under controlled conditions. Free radical initiators should be avoided.

Conditions to avoid: Exposure to air.

Materials to avoid: Oxidising agents.

Hazardous Decomposition Products: Oxides of phosphorous.

Disposal considerations

Dispose of waste at an approved chemical disposal facility in compliance with all Local, State and National laws and regulations.

Material Disposal:

Recover or recycle if possible. It is the responsibility of the waste generator to determine the toxicity and physical properties of the material generated to determine the proper waste classification and disposal methods in compliance with applicable regulations. Do not dispose into the environment, in drains or in water courses. Waste product should not be allowed to contaminate soil or water.

Container Disposal:

Drain container thoroughly. After draining, vent in a safe place away from sparks and fire. Residues may cause an explosion hazard. Do not puncture, cut or weld uncleaned drums. Send to drum recovery or metal reclaimer.
