Description of key information

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of nonylphenol on survival and reproduction of Folsomia fimetaria(soil-dwelling spring tail). The effect concentrations for reproduction toxicity, EC10 and EC50, of NP in Folsomia fimetaria were determined to be 23.6 mg/kg soil dw and 65.5 mg/kg soil dw, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil dwelling arthropods:
23.6 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of nonylphenol on survival and reproduction of Folsomia fimetaria(soil-dwelling spring tail). The organisms (23 -26 d old) were exposed for 21 d to different concentrations of nonylphenol, in a sandy soil. Under the test conditions, the LC10 and LC50 values for nonylphenol were determined to be 75.1 mg/kg soil dw and 151.3 mg/kg soil dw, respectively. The effect concentrations for reproduction toxicity, EC10 and EC50, for nonylphenol were determined to be 23.6 mg/kg soil dw and 65.5 mg/kg soil dw, respectively (Krogh P.H., 1996).
