Description of key information

The 7 d LC50 values on survival or inhibition of fertilization for Pleuronectes americanus, Mulinia lateralis, Paleomonetes vulgaris, Americamysis bahia, Leptocheirus plumulosos, Menidia beryllina, Homarus americanus, Cyprinodon variegatus and Dyspanopius sayii were determined to be 0.017, 0.0379, 0.0594, 0.0606, 0.0616, 0.070, 0.071, 0.142 and 0.195 mg NP/L.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of NP (90% para-C9 phenol) was determined for various saltwater invertebrates and fish in 7 day flow-through experiments with various concentrations of test substance. Organisms were exposed simultaneously in duplicate flowthrough exposure chambers. Doses were verified analytically. The surviving organisms were counted at 2, 4, 8, 12, and 24 h and daily through Day 7. To obtain data for lower-temperature species, static tests were conducted and monitored daily. Under the study conditions, the 96 h LC50 values for survival or inhibition of fertilization for Pleuronectes americanus, Mulinia lateralis (48 h LC50), Paleomonetes vulgaris, Americamysis bahia, Leptocheirus plumulosos, Menidia beryllina, Homarus americanus, Cyprinodon variegatus and Dyspanopius sayii were determined to be 0.017, 0.0379, 0.0594, 0.0606, 0.0616, 0.070, 0.071, 0.142 and 0.195 mg/L (Lussier SM, 2000).
