GMT 80% has been tested to determine the octanol-water partition coefficient by using the HPLC method according to OECD 117 (EU A.8.) The peak of glyceryl monomercaptoacetate corresponds to a logPow of 0.45 at 22 °C. This logPow was selected as key value for chemical safety assessment because this value considers the varying amounts of glycerol in the reaction mass of glycerol and thioglycolic acid in a sufficient and realistic manner.
