Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The boiling point of solid BTMAC could not be tested as the substance deteriorates during testing. The decomposition starts at 239 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of solid BTMAC could not be tested as the substance deteriorates during heating. Solid BTMAC starts to decompose at ca. 239 °C. Several publications report that (see endpoint records under 4.2 Melting Point).

The boiling point of a ca. 60% solution of BTMAC in water is greater than 135 °C. Above this temperature the test material degrades to benzyl chloride and trimethylamine.
