Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

The EC50 for Reaktiv-Rot F 52 167 FW was estimated by extrapolation to be 37.2 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 32.1 - 43.9 mg/L. The EC0 was determined to be 15 mg/L. The EC50 was estimated by extrapolation using Litchfield-Wilcoxon calculation. However, the result of this acute toxicity study is questionable because the NOEC in the Daphnia reproduction test was 30 mg/L (the highest dose tested) and the acute toxicity results for a structural analogue were EC0, 50 and 100 > 160 mg/L. Therefore the the study was disregarded for the environmental assessment.

The acute toxicity of the structural analogue SA01 on Daphnia magna was assessed in an Acute Immobilisation Test, over an exposure period of 48 hours in a semi-static test system. The frequency of the water renewal periods were 24 hours.

Toxic effects were not observed during the preliminary concentration range-finding test therefore a limit test was performed in the main experiment using only one test concentration (160 mg/L nominal) and one control group. Based on the analytical method validation and the fact that the test substance is not hydrolytically stable, a nominal concentration higher than 100 mg/L was tested, in order to achieve a measured test concentration of 100 mg/L in the limit test.

Only one immobilised animal could be observed in the test item treated group. In addition, no abnormal behaviour or appearance of test animals was detected.

Under the conditions of this Daphnia magna acute immobilisation study the observed endpoints were the following:

Parameter (48h)

Test item concentration [mg/L]

EC50

> 160

NOEC

160

LOEC

> 160

EC100

> 160

Based on the results of this study, the test item had no toxic effect on daphnids at up to at least 160 mg/L nominal.
