Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One key study is available for each of the following endpoints:

Aquatic invertebrates

- The acute toxicity (inhibition of mobility) of the test item Didecanoyl peroxide to aquatic invertebrates for a duration of 48 hours was assessed according to the OECD Guideline 202 and GLP requirements. Daphnia magna were exposed to one concentration (limit test at 100 mg/L) under static conditions: Didecanoyl peroxide has no effect on daphnids up to its water solubility limit.

- A chronic toxicity test has been performed according to OECD Guideline 211 and GLP requirements. Didecanoyl peroxide at its maximum achievable solubility in test medium did not have any detectable effects on the reproduction of Daphnia magna in 21 day chronic study under semi-static conditions (daily renewal).

Algae

The determination of the growth inhibition of the freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata exposed to the test item Didecanoyl peroxide for a duration of 72 hours was assessed according to the OECD Guideline 201 (limit test at 100 mg/L): Didecanoyl peroxide has no effect on algae up to its water solubility limit.

Microorganisms

There is no test performed with didecanoyl peroxide. The toxic effects to microorganisms of this substance are read-across from data obtained with dilauroyl peroxide for which an activated sludge respiration inhibition test was performed according to the OECD 209 guideline. The EC50 was determined to be > 1000 mg/L based on nominal concentration. No NOEC was obtained.

Fish

There is no test performed with didecanoyl peroxide. The toxic effects to Poecilia reticulata of this substance are read-across from data obtained with dilauroyl peroxide for which a limit test was performed according to the OECD 203 guideline. 96h LC50 WAF test was determined to be up to 1000 mg/L.

A long term toxicity study to fish was performed under flow-through conditions according to OECD guideline 210. The lowest NOEC observed in this study was equal to 38.5µg/L regarding the fresh weight parameter. No effects were observed based on hatchability, post-hach survival, mortality, lenght and dry weight. Given the lack of effects observed in dry weight up to 165 µg/L (arithmetic mean measured) and the lack of significant differences in fresh weight between solvant control and all tested concentrations, the overall NOEC may be considered to be 165 µg/L (arithmetic mean measured) which means no effect up to the water solubility limit
