Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
A 10% solution of 3-methoxybutyl acetate in oil was injected subcutaneously to 1 guinea pig at a single dose of 0.1 g/kg and to another guinea pig, at the same dose, on 6 consecutive days (see 7.5.4). Rats were also dosed subcutaneously with a 10% solution of 3-methoxybutyl acetate in oil at a single dose of 0.5 g/kg and 1 g/kg.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
A single subcutaneous injection of a 10% solution of 3-methoxybutyl acetatel in oil did not cause any adverse effects to a guinea pig (at a dose of 100 mg/kg) or to rats at a dose of 500 or 1000 mg/kg.
Executive summary:

A 10% solution of 3 -methoxybutyl acetate in oil was injected subcutaneously to a guinea pig at a dose of 100 mg/kg and to rats at a dose of 500 or 1000 mg/kg on a single occasion. There were no adverse clinical signs. 3 -Methoxybutyl acetate, as a 10% solution in oil, was of low toxicity to by the subcutaneous route to guinea pigs at a dose level of 100 mg/kg/day and to rats at 500 or 1000 mg/kg.
