Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move promptly to fresh air.  If appropriate rinse mouth and

nose thoroughly with water.  If breathing stops administer

artificial respiration.  Administer oxygen if breathing is

difficult.  Obtain medical advice immediately.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash out with water or saline solution for at least 15

minutes, including under eyelids.  If persistant irritation

is present seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash affected skin with

soap and water.  If adverse reaction occurs or persists seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water.  Do not induce vomiting.  Seek

medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide

Product arising from burning: None known, however incomplete combustion may produce

harmful oxides of carbon and nitrogen

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear self contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing to minimise contact with

skin or eyes and respiratory protection to prevent

inhalation. Contain the spillage, sweep up, place in bag and

hold for waste diposal.  Avoid raising dust and wash spill

site after material pick up is complete.  Avoid discharge to

drains/surface water.

Handling and storage

Handling: (S)-AMI.HCl is handled in two operations only- sampling and

dispensing to IBCs.  Both operations are conducted inside

downflow booths designed for the specific operation.

Sampling:  The sampling booth is a stand-alone unit located

in the warehouse, consisting of two separate "rooms" - an

inner sampling area, and an airlock through which personnel

ans materials for sampling must pass.  Air is extracted by a

fan from the inner sampling area, and recircilated through

a pre-filter and HEPA filter back into the sampling area

(90%) and airlock (10%). Local gauges are fitted in the

sampling area, allowing the operator to monitor the booth

operation condition:

- sampling area pre-filter and HEPA differential pressures

(Dp)

- airlock pre-filter and HEPA differential pressures (Dp)

- Dp between sampling area and airlock

- Dp between airlock and warehouse

- airflow through sampling area

Dispensing: The dispensing booth is a downflow booth located

in a dedicated dispensing room.  This room is separarted

from the main production facility by two airlocks - one for

personnel entry and one for materials entry.  The booth is

open to the dispensing room on one side, but airflow pattern

is designed to provide containment within a defined safe

working area.  There is a 10% bleed of filtered exhaust air

back to the dispensing room, and 10% make-up of fresh air

supply from the room to the booth. Local gauges are fitted

at the booth entrance, allowing the operator to monitor the

booth operating condition:

- coarse dust, fine dust and HEPA filter differential

pressures

- booth airflow

Appropriate personal protective equipment to be worn when

handling (S)-AMI.HCl:

Respiratory protection - dust mask or full-face respirator

(EN 136)

Hand protection - disposable nitrile gloves (EN 374-2-374-3)

Eye protection - goggles (EN 166)

Skin protection - disposable, impermeable outer garments

including boot covers and hat (EN 340/EN 365)

Storage: Keep tightly closed in a cool, dry and well ventilated

place.  Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.  Store

in original container.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Substance is packaged in 50kg fibre drums (net fill weight

30kg of substance per drum) within double polyethlyene bag

with tamperproof lids.
