Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

log Pow

Details on results:
The test substance was determined to have a retention time longer than that of the highest standard, DDT, which has a known log10Pow value of 6.2, only eluting after the mobile phase strength was increased to 100% methanol. A log10Pow value of greater than 6 was thus indicated, equivalent to a Pow value of greater than 10^6.

Calculations:

The partition coefficient is deduced from the capacity factor, k, given by

k = (tr - to) / to

where tr is the measured retention time of sample or reference and to is the retention time of the internal deadtime standard.

A calibration plot of log10k versus log10Pow is constructed for the reference standards. The logarithm of the capacity factor for the test substance is then calculated and the log10Pow value is determined by interpolation, if appropriate.

Conclusions:
The substance was determined to have a log10Pow value of greater than 6, equivalent to a Pow value of greater than 10^6.
Executive summary:

The study was performed to determine the n-octanol/water partition coefficient of the test substance. The study was designed in accordance with accepted principles in order to meet the requirements of REACH Regulation (EU) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

The method followed is amongst those described in Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008 (Method A.8) and the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals (Method 117).

As the test substance contains an amine functional group, the test was performed at pH 10.

The substance was determined to have a log10Pow value of greater than 6, equivalent to a Pow value of greater than 106.
