Administrative data

First-aid measures

- General advice: Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment).

- Following inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. In case of indisposition seek medical advice.

- Following skin contact: In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/ attention.

- Following eye contact: In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

- Following ingestion: If swallowed, call a poison control centre or doctor immediately. Treat symptomatically.

- Most important symptoms and effects: Not expected significant effects.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media: Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: No restrictions.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and  sulfur oxides.

- Advice for fire fighter: Use special protective equipment for firefighting, self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective suit.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions: Wear suitable protective equipment. Ventilate the area.

- Protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear suitable protective equipment such as a  dust mask , chemical protective gloves and eye protection.

- Environmental precautions: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Solids: Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in suitable containers for disposal.

Liquids: Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).

After processing, clean all equipment with the following: Water

Dispose of waste material in authorised incineration facility.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling:

Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.

If  the pure substance is handled as powder, avoid inhalation of dust and wear dust mask.

Use equipment for handling powders or other appropriate engineering controls.

Avoid skin contact and wear impermeable gloves.

Take precautionary measures against static charges.

Avoid dust formation.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures: Local ventilation recommended - mechanical ventilation may be used.

2. Organisational protection measures: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

3. Hand protection: Chemical resistant gloves . Long-term exposure Impervious butyl rubber gloves (Minimum breakthrough time / gloves : 480 min; Minimum thickness / gloves 0,7 mm). For short-term exposure (splash protection): Nitrile rubber gloves (Minimum breakthrough time / gloves : 30 min Minimum thickness / gloves 0,4 mm)

4. Feet protection: Wear suitable protective equipment.

5. Body protection: Wear suitable protective equipment.

6. Eye protection: Depending on the risk, wear sufficient eye protection (safety glasses with side protection or goggles, and if necessary, face shield.)

7. Respiratory protection: Local ventilation to keep levels below established threshold values is recommended. In case of prolonged exposure to airborne dust concentrations, a suitable particle filter mask that complies with the requirements of national legislation is recommended, depending on the expected exposure levels.

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity: Not expected to react under normal conditions of use.

Disposal considerations

Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Normal application results in the consumption of 98 % by irreversible binding to the cellulose. Recovery for recycling of the remaining substance is not reasonably practicable. Not suitable for deposit in landfill site. Incineration in an approved, controlled furnace with flue gas scrubbing and emission gas control. Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water treatment plant. It is estimated that most of the total quantity used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended. The dyestuff should be used in a well-equipped dye house. If necessary, the waste water can be purified prior to the waste water treatment by membrane filtration or by  flocculation with cationic agents or by treatment with ozone.
