key study
Study period:
23-24 February 2022
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EPA OPPTS 830.7570 (Partition Coefficient, n-octanol / H2O, Estimation by Liquid Chromatography)
Version / remarks:
August 1996
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Please refer to 'principles of method if other than guideline'
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: EU Method A.24. Partition Coefficient (n-Octanol/Water), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method, EC Publication No. O.J. L54/1
Version / remarks:
01 March 2016
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Please refer to 'principles of method if other than guideline'
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Version / remarks:
13th April 2004
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Please refer to 'principles of method if other than guideline'
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Deviation to the Guidelines
According to the guidelines if a solvent other than the mobile phase is used to dissolve the test and reference substances, the mobile phase should be used for the final dilution prior to injection. However, the test item – being known to be unstable in the presence of water – was injected dissolved in acetonitrile.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
>= 6.5
Temp.:
25 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH value not stated
Details on results:
As the retention time of test item samples was outside the range of retention times obtained for the reference items, a limit value is reported as partition coefficient.
Conclusions:
The log Pow of the test item was determined to be log Pow > 6.5.
Executive summary:

In the course of this study the partition coefficient (Pow) of the test item was determined (estimated) using high performance liquid chromatography. The test item was identified by HPLC-MS analysis. The determined log Pow (10.2) is outside the applicability domain of the HPLC method (0 < log Pow < 6). The retention time of test item samples was outside the range of retention times obtained for the reference items, a limit value is reported as partition coefficient of the test item. Therefore, the log Pow of the test item is stated to be log Pow > 6.5.

Description of key information

The log Pow of the test item was determined to be log Pow > 6.5.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
