Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- Following inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Treat symptomatically. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
- Following skin contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Use a mild soap if available. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
- Following eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical attention immediately.
- Following ingestion: Rinse mouth. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
- Most important symptoms and effects:
Eye contact: redness, pain, corrosion
Skin contact: redness, irritation
Inhalation: respiratory irritation, cough
- Protection of first-aiders: In event of emergency assess the danger before taking action. Do not put yourself at risk of injury. If in doubt, contact emergency responders.Use personal protective equipment as required.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media: Foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder, other extinguishing agent suitable for Class B fires. For large fires, use water spray or fog, thoroughly drenching the burning material.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known
- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Fire Hazard. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Flash back possible over considerable distance.
- Advice for fire fighter: Use personal protective equipment. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Advice for non-emergency personnel: Ensure adequate ventilation. Remove all sources of ignition. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin and eyes. When workers are facing concentrations above the exposure limit they must use appropriate certified respirators. Ensure clean-up is conducted by trained personnel only. Refer to protective measures listed later in this record.
Advice for emergency responders: If specialised clothing is required to deal with the spillage, take note of any information in 'exposure controls / personal protection' later in this record, on suitable and unsuitable materials.
- Environmental precautions: Do not allow contact with soil, surface or ground water.
- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Stop leak if safe to do so. Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13). Flush away traces with water. For large spills, dike spilled material or otherwise contain material to ensure runoff does not reach a waterway.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Take necessary action to avoid static electricity discharge (which might cause ignition of organic vapours). Do not ingest. Keep away from fire, sparks and heated surfaces. Do not breathe spray, vapour. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Use only with adequate ventilation.
Hygiene measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re- use. Wash face, hands and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling. Provide suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body in case of contact or splash hazard.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Keep away from oxidizing agents. Keep out of reach of children. Keep container tightly closed. Store in suitable labelled containers.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures: Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control worker exposure to airborne contaminants.
2. Organisational protection measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re- use.Wash face, hands and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling.Provide suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body in case of contact or splash hazard.
3. Hand protection EN 374: Recommended preventive skin protection Gloves
Nitrile rubber
butyl-rubber
Breakthrough time: 1 – 4 hours
Minimum thickness for butyl-rubber 0.3 mm for nitrile rubber 0.2 mm or equivalent (please refer to the gloves manufacturer/distributor for advise).
Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
4. Feet protection: Wear suitable protective clothing.
5. Body protection EN 14605: Wear suitable protective clothing.
6. Eye protection EN 166: Safety goggles
Face-shield
7. Respiratory protection EN 143, 14387: When respiratory risks cannot be avoided or sufficiently limited by technical means of collective protection or by measures, methods or procedures of work organization, consider the use of certified respiratory protection equipment meeting EU requirements (89/656/EEC, (EU) 2016/425), or equivalent, with filter type: A-P

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.
2. Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.
3. Possibility of hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.
4. Conditions to avoid: Heat, flames and sparks.
5. Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents
6. Hazardous decomposition products: Depending on combustion properties, decomposition products may include following materials: Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Disposal considerations

Dispose of in accordance with the European Directives on waste and hazardous waste. Waste codes should be assigned by the user, preferably in discussion with the waste disposal authorities.

Waste treatment methods:
Product: The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil.
Where possible recycling is preferred to disposal or incineration.
If recycling is not practicable, dispose of in compliance with local regulations.
Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility.

Contaminated packaging: Dispose of as unused product.
Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
Do not re-use empty containers
