Description of key information

L-TEE is a white solid (crystalline powder) which melts in the range of 54 -58 °C and boils with decomposition in the range 180.7 -202.1 °C. The particle-size distribution of L-TEE shows a bimodal distribution, with less than 1% below 50μm, and a mean mass aerodynamic diameter between approximately 500 and 800 µm, with the largest particle size observed, approximately 1500 µm.

The vapour pressure of L-TEE is 0.441 and 0.804 Pa at 20 ºC and 25 ºC, respectively and the relative density has been determined to be 1.2223 at 20 °C.

L-TEE is highly soluble in water, as water solubility is determined to be more than 4000 g/l at 20 °C and pH 9.1, and the partition coefficient is determined to be < 0.3 at 20 °C. The surface tension is 71.5 NM/m at 20 ºC and a concentration of 1044 mg/L.

There are no chemical groups within the structure of L-TEE which imply explosive properties, hence the result has been predicted negative. Furthermore, L-TEE is non flammable and no flammable gas is evolved either in contact with water or humid air. L-TEE does not have oxidising properties and no self-ignition temperature up to 400 °C when examined experimentally.
