Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Soybean oil, polymerized is a UVCB substance which is extremely lipophylic and poorly water soluble. Experimental data on environmental fate for soybean oil, polymerized were read-across from linseed oil, polymerized.

In various screening tests the test substance was found to be not readily biodegradable; the results allowed to conclude that it is inherently biodegradable. The rate of biodegradation in the prolonged Closed Bottle test indicates that the half-life time is considerably < 60 days. Thus the substance is not P or vP. The biotransformation products are water soluble, thus they are expected to have a low log Kow.

Due to the lipophylic nature and poor water solubility of the substance, the substance is expected to adsorb to organic matter in soil and sediment. As the substance has a high molecular weight (860 - >2500 g/mol), the bioaccumulation potential is expected to be limited.

Due to the complex character of this UVCB, no suitable analytical methods are available. Therefore further testing on stability (hydrolysis), biodegradation, bioaccumulation and adsorption/desorption is not technically feasible.
