Key result
Test procedure:
other: expert assessment of chemical structure
Remarks on result:
other: the test item is considered not highly flammable in contact with water

- None of the components of the test item contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with water and/or to the evolution of a flammable gas.

- Moreover the test item was dissolved in water during the determination of the surface tension and it was demonstrated that the substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item is considered not highly flammable in contact with water.
Executive summary:

GUIDELINE

Test item structure was subjected to expert assessment in accordance with  EC Guideline A.12 Flammability (Contact with Water) (March 04, 2016), UN Test N.5 Test Method for Substances which in Contact with Water Emit Flammable Gases (2015) and UN Appendix 6 Screening Procedures (2015).

CONCLUSION

The test item is considered to be not highly flammable in contact with water.

Key result
Test procedure:
other: expert assessment of chemical structure
Remarks on result:
other: the test item is considered to have no pyrophoric properties

- None of the components of the test item does contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with air.

- Moreover, the test item was handled under normal laboratory conditions during this project. This demonstrated that the test item does not ignite in contact with air at room temperature.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item is considered to have no pyrophoric properties.
Executive summary:

GUIDELINE

The investigation was conducted in accordance with EC Guideline A.13 Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids (March 04, 2016), UN Test N.3 Test Method for Pyrophoric Liquids (2015) andUNAppendix 6: Screening Procedures (2015).

RESULTS

The test item is considered to have no pyrophoric properties.

Description of key information

Investigation of the substance for classification as a flammable solid is not required because the substance is a liquid. Furthermore, expert opinion considers the substance to be not highly flammable in contact with water and non-pyrophoric.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The test item is a liquid and, in line with ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (Version 6.0; July 2017), relevant properties for classification of the substance as flammable are the determined flash point and boiling point. Further experimental investigation of flammability is therefore not required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Flammability of the test material has been investigated via determination of flashpoint (147 °C using the closed cup equilibrium method). Therefore, in accordance with CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance is not classified as flammable.
