Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is pyrophoric
Interpretation of results:
Category 1 (pyrophoric liquids) based on GHS criteria
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is pyrophoric
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is pyrophoric

Description of key information

The endpoint is waived: The substance is already classified as pyrophoric.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
pyrophoric

Additional information

According to the Annex VII Standard Information Requirements for REACH, determination of flammability is required. Column 2 - specific rules for adaption from column 1 - states that flammability determination does not need to be conducted in case the substance is pyrophoric. Triethylborane is highly reactive towards oxygen (air). It is exclusively marketed in liquid state and shipped inertly under UN transport class 4.2 (substances liable to spontaneous combustion / pyrophoric liquids).

Justification for classification or non-classification

unpublished in-house testing and experience demonstrate that the substance is pyrophoric
