SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: FAT 20037/E, TE Lot. 1501016
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Findings

Safety Pre-Test

A small amount of the test item was heated on a magnesia groove with a gas burner. Glowing was observed. The test item showed no signs of ignition.

Preliminary screening test

The test item was heated with the flame of a teclu burner. Glowing was observed during heating. No ignition occurred within two minutes.

Results

No ignition was observed throughout the course of the test.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test substance was classified as not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to EU Method A.10 for determination of flammability of the test substance. In the screening test, the substance did not ignite and propagate combustion by burning with flame of a teclu burner along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period. Hence, the test substance was classified as not highly flammable and no determination of burning rate was necessary.

Description of key information

A study was conducted according to EU Method A.10 for determination of flammability of the test substance. In the screening test, the substance did not ignite and propagate combustion by burning with flame of a teclu burner along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period. Hence, the test substance was classified as not highly flammable and no determination of burning rate was necessary.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance was found to be not flammable from the results of a flammability study, hence it does not warrant classification as per Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) criteria.
