Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The BCF of hexane is calculated as 501.187.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The BCF of hexane in aquatic species was calculated using a QSAR (Veith and Broderius, 1987), based on a log Kow of 4. The QSAR used to calculate the BCF of isohexane followed the TGD guideline and so is deemed suitable for the assessment of bioconcentration. The calculated BCF of 501 indicates that n-hexane does not greatly bioaccumulate in the lipids of ecological receptors.
