Description of key information

Disperse Red 86:1 was found to have half life >1 year when assessed for hydrolysis as a function of pH.

Additional information

The determination of hydrolysis as a function of pH for FAT 36034/H was carried out in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 111. In the preliminary test, sample solutions were prepared at a nominal concentration of 0.7 mg/L at pH 4, 7 and 9 and maintained at 50.0 ± 0.5 °C for a period of 120 hours. The preliminary testing at pH 4 and 9 demonstrated 54 and 79 % hydrolysis at 120 hours (for pH 4 and pH 9 respectively), therefore, Tier 2 testing was required. In addition, the preliminary testing for pH 7 was conducted twice in order to conclude if there was less than 10% hydrolysis as the margin was very close, it was, however, established that the hydrolysis was less than 10 % and no tier 2 testing was required. The Tier 2 testing for pH 4 produced an overall half-life of 501 days which was greater than 1 year. The results for pH 9 also showed no significant hydrolysis at any of the temperatures, and therefore a limit value of 1 year reported for pH 9 as well.
