Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

An OECD 301B test gave the result that the substance gave 0% biodegradation in the test and is therefore not readily biodegradable. PU Thickener is judged to meet the criterion for Persistence.

Due to the extremely low water solubility and high molecular weight profile the substance is considered to have a low potential for bioaccumulation and does not meet the criteria of  bioaccumulative or very bioaccumulative. Given the extremely low water solubility and low bioavailability the substance is would not be expected to show acute toxicity to aquatic organisms at loading rates up to 100 mg/L. There is no evidence that the substance is carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction and its lack of bioavailability would indicate that chronic toxicity and repeat dose specific target organ toxicity are not expected. Accordingly this substance should not be considered toxic.
