Additional information

Moles et al (1981) report a 40 day NOEC of 1.4mg/l for reduced growth in fry of the freshwater Coho Salmon. This result was from a study using a flow through system with daily analytical confirmation of the exposure concentrations. Although this study did not follow a standard guideline it was the most conservative reliable endpoint identified and was also selected as the key study in the EU RAR for toluene (2003). This value is supported by a 32 day NOEC of 4mg/l for reduced weight in a Fathead Minnow embryo-larval test (Devlin et al, 1982).
